I remember doing some serious bandwith tweaking on my XP box when I first started to get into online gaming. The original site is suffering from the digg effect, and someone was kind enough to post a Coral Cache link. Even if you're not an advanced user, there's some good information in there if you take the time to read it. Make SURE that if you're going to start fiddling around inn the registry, MAKE a BACKUP! Starting with WIN 95, I've managed to nuke my box maybe 4 or 5 times messing around with either the registry, partitions, master boot record, whatever. If you're looking for a good place to test your connection speed, you should really hop on over to DSLReports (now broadbandreports.com). If you dig around in the forums you can find some awesome tips and tricks.
I think it's ready... just about.
I recently installed SuSe Linux on my laptop. It's free, as just about all linux operating systems are. Linux, in case you don't know, is an operating system, the same as Microsoft Windows XP, or the MAC OS. It's what is really running your computer. Linux is "open source", meaning that the actual source code is available for anyone to tweak, modify, fix, or add to. SMART people, I mean. The others are closed source... and can never be looked at by anyone.

Here's why I think Linux is ready for the prime time:
